When I first began blogging, I told myself I was not EVER going to have one of those blogs that is full of pictures of myself. I didn’t want my blog to become something self-absorbed and ostentatious.
Today, I break that promise.
Lol! I’m just kidding. But seriously, just realize what you’re getting into when you start reading this post. The whole reason I’m putting pictures of myself in outfits on my blog is because we just had TAX FREE WEEKEND! Did any of you guys go shopping?
So now I’m going to show you the payload, the treasure, the loot! I hope you guys like the stuff I got! My Mom and I call my style ‘understated ingénue’. This particular haul was especially a bit more ‘professional’ or ‘grown up’ as I like to call it. I’m about to start regularly volunteering, and between visiting colleges, volunteering, and different stages of life, I felt I needed some things to wear that looked… well… professional.
Of course, I also bought this really cool jacket… and I didn’t really need a new formal… but it was five dollars!!!
That’s the magic of thrift shopping!
Two of these also came from H&M. But they were actually pretty good deals as well.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s delve into
Cheapskate Glamour!!!! (Featuring Wesley, Kafka and Conrad – because bookend frogs make you look cuter!!!)
Our first item is a pumkin spice colored long sleeved tee from… Haltom Thrift! I really have a difficult time finding long sleeved shirts that I like, but I felt this one was comfortable, and had a good length. The orange color just feels perfect for autumn!
Once I find something I like, I stick to it! So when I saw, at the same thrift store, this black tee that was almost exactly the same as the pumpkin one, I picked it up. It’s actually a Gap shirt, I believe.
I just threw in that photo for you guys…
Kafka and Conrad wanted their moment in the sun… gorgeous as always, boys.
So here are two new things! The jacket came from (guess what?!!!) the thrift store! I absolutely love it, and can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear it. It makes me so happy. I don’t know why. Something about the zippers, and the clean contrasting look.
The skirt is from H&M. I don’t always feel super pretty in skirts – I’m kind of particular about all my clothes – but this one fit well and just made me feel put together. So, here it is!
By the way, those black heels? I call them my witch shoes. They just look like the shoes of an evil teacher, or the Wicked Witch of the West, to me. What do you think?
Isn’t my Mommy a good photographer?
A big comfy sweater from H&M. I haven’t worn anything this close to a turtle neck in a long time. I think it could be nice in the winter, and since it’s a little big I think it should layer nicely over my other clothes.
The friend I was thrift shopping with found this dress for me! It’s an Old Navy Dress but since my friend found it at Haltom Thrift, I didn’t have to pay but $2.50 for it. 🙂
If you still are subscribing after seeing this photo, you are a brave soul and deserve a medal.
Wesley anxiously waits while I change into my last outfit!
No, I don’t need a formal… but what girl can resist? I’ve always wanted a red dress, but I love how the black see-through layer tones the red down, and gives it a deeper color. Now I just need a pair of shoes that would look good with it! And a place to wear it…
Just proving that it’s a red dress!
I love you guys! You’re probably tired of looking at my face; go and be merry!
