Liebster Award

An award?  Me?

Can you see me blushing?

Anyway, Maggie over at Dreaming of Guatemala, which, by the way, is an incredible blog that you should check out, nominated me for the Liebster Award!  I’m so excited to answer these questions, and to nominate fabulous bloggers!  By the way, if you’re reading this, consider yourself nominated… seriously!

Here we go:

1 What is my favorite candle scent?

Oh dear… this is hard.  Anything not too sweet, or smoky… I love a light vanilla, or rose scent.  Or a mahogany wood fragrance – oh, it’s so hard to choose!

2 What is my favorite time of day?  Why?

My favorite time of day is early evening, right when the sun is going down, onto about 11 pm.  Why?  Honestly, the evenings can be a real bummer for me… sometimes, when the sun sinks, all my hope seems to sink with it (that was a Twenty One Pilots-esque quote, for those you who love ‘Semi-Automatic’ or ‘Hometown’).  Anyway, evenings, I’ve found, can be a very dark time for me.  On the other hand, they can be times of immense satisfaction and joy.  Some of my favorite memories are of evening lights, hanging out with close family and friends, and just generally feeling blessed to have this life to live and share. I love to look at stars, glowing cityscapes, and campfires.  Anyway, that’s my long answer 🙂

3 If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?  Why?

This one’s a bit of a no brainer.  Jesus!  I know it would be terrifying, but I just long for that more than I think I realize.  Though I have His presence now, in my life, how amazing would it be to walk with Him on earth, see how He treats people, hear the answers He has to my specific questions… He would be able to give me the whole story on how God designed me and why!

As far as other people, I would want to meet John Newton and William Cowper.  You’ve probably heard of Newton, the author of Amazing Grace, but maybe not of his friend, William Cowper, who was also a hymn writer with a dark past that he never really got over.  He may have been abused, I believe, and tried to kill himself several times and had to be hospitalized, where he finally heard the gospel.  Even after he became a Christian, however, he struggled deeply with depression and tried to kill himself again.  Newton remained his faithful friend, and together, they wrote many beautiful hymns.  Cowper himself composed ‘God moves in a mysterious way’, ‘Decide this doubt for me’, and ‘There is a fountain filled with blood’.  I would like to meet them, because they both were broken sinners, who poured out their hearts to God in beautiful poetry.  I feel I would have a lot in common with both of them, though we lived in very different times.

4 Who do I most admire in my life?

My mother.  She is the most patient, amazing woman I know.  She is hardworking, kind, gentle… she puts up with ME!  So yeah… she’s pretty unbelievable.  And she prays like crazy for all her kids – trust me, I need it!

I also really admire my father, as he is a great steward of time and money, and spends hours studying the Bible.  He’s one of those steady, faithful people who you think you know, and then he does something so funny and spontaneous that you never saw it coming!

5 What is something I’m very proud of?

Hmmm… I’m going to college!  That, for me, is something I’m proud of.  Sometimes I felt like I’d never make it, because of all the complications and expenses.  But here I am.  And I’m proud of that, and yet immensely humbled and grateful, because I had so much help getting there…  I couldn’t have done any of it by myself.

So, my specific nominees are ‘Musings of Puppydoc’, ‘ BrewNSpew’, ‘Recipe in a Bottle,’ ‘Soul to Ink’, ‘Darly – Lifestyle Blog’ and ‘Out of Our Minds’!  But remember, any blogger reading this post is nominated, so you can answer my questions too, whether on your blog or in the comments section – I am excited to read people’s answers! 🙂

1 Who is your favorite superhero?

2 If you could eat only one last meal, what would it be?

3 If you could go back and see one historical event, what would it be?

4 What single person has been the greatest influence in your life?

5 What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

Stay tuned, as soon I will be answering the questions from the Blue Sky Tag!

Have a happy day!
