Lesson from the Rio Grande Gorge: a photo journal reflection

20170111_143920

The vast sky from a swiftly moving car…

hpim5240

Flat, cold, endless plains…

hpim5243

Snow and dead things at my feet…

hpim5254-3

Brittle, fragile, chilly…

hpim5251

Then I looked up…

hpim5235

hpim5241

hpim5261

hpim5255

The warning sign

hpim5263

And the ground opens beneath your feet…

hpim5267-2

hpim5279-2

And the bottom of the river is so far away…

The Rio Grande gorge is 800 feet deep.

hpim5257

In loving memory of a soul…

hpim5258

hpim5271-2

A message from a stranger…

hpim5268

hpim5269

And then you look up…

hpim5274

There are mountains of beauty, just above the lowest valley you’ll ever face…

hpim5276

Light plays with darkness…

hpim5282-2

Don’t give up…

hpim5280-2

  1. Love these photos. I, too, am taken by the difference between the view you have looking around at ground level, looking down into a gorge, and looking up at the sky–it is almost like being in three different places at once.
